According to the August 7,1960 edition of the New York Times…


 

The number one selling fiction title was Advise and Consent by Allen Drury As of  August 7th, 1960 this title had been on the New York Times’ Best Seller List for 52 weeks!

The number one selling non-fiction title was Born Free by Joy Adamson.  As of August 7th, 1960 this title had been on the New York Times’ Best Seller List for 13 weeks.  

 
Fun fact: This was the first week To Kill a Mockingbird became a New York Times bestseller!
