Word of the Week: Benediction

As in: “In 1997 he appeared at a spoof event in Harvard’s venerable Sanders Theater, the Ig Nobel Prize ceremony, where he offered a benediction that began with ‘a moment of science’ — to the delight of all the scientists.”

In the course of his work, Reverend Professor Peter J. Gomes, the Plummer Professor of Christian Morals and Pusey Minister in the Memorial Church at Harvard University gave many benedictions including the humorous one quoted above.
