On November 21, 1980, NBC received one of the largest television audiences to that date when 350 million views in the world tuned into the show Dallas to discover “Who Shot JR?” The show received such a large audience because the previous season had ended with JR Ewing (Larry Hagman) shot. It was plot twist that inspired widespread media coverage and left the world wondering who shot the gun. On this day in 1980, viewers of the show discovered that Kristin Shepard, J.R.’s wife’s sister and his former mistress, as the culprit (Mary Crosby).
